Title: Assistant District Attorney (Financial Crime) – Putnam County, N.Y.

The Putnam County District Attorney’s Office has an immediate opening for a full-time Assistant District Attorney. The position will involve prosecuting financial and economic crimes focusing on complex and long-term investigations. The Assistant District Attorney would be involved at the inception of the cases, working with local police agencies at the investigative stage to issue legal process (subpoenas, warrants, etc.) through the disposition of the case (plea or trial). The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years of experience handling criminal prosecutions, and at least one year of experience handling financial crimes.
Duties and responsibilities will include handling a financial crimes felony caseload, as well as prosecuting felony or misdemeanor cases out of the assigned local court including preliminary proceedings, discovery practice, motion practice, grand jury presentations when, pretrial hearings, through trial and sentencing.
Candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Criminal Procedure Law and Penal Law; ability to analyze, appraise and apply legal principles, facts and precedents to cases; ability to review and analyze large amounts of financial and technical documentation; and can work independently and as part of a team. Residency will need to be established in the 9th Judicial District. All applicants should include a writing sample(s) with their resume.
Qualifications: Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing. 3-5 years of experience in criminal prosecution, at least one year of experience in prosecuting financial crimes.
