Title: Assistant District Attorney (Law Clerk – Pending results/admission to NYS Bar)

Location: Malone and Tupper Lake, New York

Salary:

• Assistant District Attorney: Starting in 2026: $87,029 – $104,827; salary is commensurate with relevant legal experience.
• Law Clerk: $84,086

Responsibilities:

• Manage assigned cases on intake by examining case files and determining facts and legal issues, make an assessment of the case and determines appropriate resolution;
• Review files for discovery compliance;
• Work with Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies;
• Conduct legal research to determine and maintain an up to date knowledge of the law, evidence and rules necessary to prosecute cases;
• Present matters to the Franklin County Grand Jury;
• Respond to motions, conduct hearings and negotiate plea bargains/resolutions when appropriate;
• Conduct and assist on trials, including jury selection, opening statements, presentation of evidence and closing summations in Local, Supreme and County Courts.

Special Requirements for Acceptance of Application:

• Assistant District Attorney:
  • Admitted to the Bar of the State of New York at time of appointment.
  • Holds a Juris Doctorate (JD) Degree.
• Law Clerk – Must be graduated from Law School, pending results/admission to NYS Bar
  • Scheduled to take the NYS July 2024 Bar exam; or
  • Taken the NYS Bar exam pending results; or
  • Taken the NYS Bar exam pending admission

Local Area: Malone is at the foothills of the Adirondacks, which provides easy access to numerous outdoor activities year round including hiking, camping, atv trails and fishing or hunting during the summer and fall as well as skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling in the winter. Close proximity to Lake Placid, home of the 1932 & 1980 winter Olympics, just over an hour drive, Montreal Canada just over one hour drive and Burlington a two hour drive.
