Starting salary to $145,022.00 depending on experience.
Responsibilities of the First Assistant include the management of a felony caseload from initiation of cases, including working closely with law enforcement providing legal guidance on the investigation of crimes, to final resolution including select post-conviction matters. The First Assistant is also tasked with advising the District Attorney on all matters concerning the operation of the office including case management and prosecution as well as personnel management. The First Assistant is a unique position whereby the person must be able to stand in for, and act on behalf of, the District Attorney when necessary.
The First Assistant position requires a minimum of several years felony level criminal law experience. Candidates must possess strong analytical, organizational, written and oral communication skills. Candidates must be resourceful and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate must be a Seneca County resident at the time of appointment or be willing to relocate within a reasonable time thereafter.
