SALARY: $86,343 – $116,563 (commensurate with experience)

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: This position will handle a full caseload of criminal matters including arraignments, review and collection of all discoverable materials, investigation and legal research, preparation of pre-trial motions and arguments, and conducting hearing and trials. The caseload would could be both misdemeanor and felony level cases depending on the applicant’s experience level.
EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Illustrative only)
- Manages assigned cases on intake by examining case file and determining facts and legal issues, makes and assessment of the case and determines appropriate resolution;
- Works with law enforcement agencies;
- Conducts legal research to determine and maintain an up to date knowledge of the law, evidence and rules necessary to prosecute cases;
- Represents the District Attorney’s office in local court proceedings;
- Responds to motions, conducts hearings and negotiates plea bargains/resolutions when appropriate;
- Tries cases, including jury selection, opening statements, presentation of evidence and closing summations.
ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERTISE: Admitted to the Bar of the State of New York at time of appointment.
